Karen Sallie is an experienced higher education professional with over 25 years of service at the former University of Natal and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She served as a Student Academic Services Manager in the College of Humanities (CHUM) for 11 years, has over two decades of academic administration management experience contributing to institutional effectiveness and academic governance. She currently serves as a Consultant in the Office of the Registrar.

Expertise and Contributions
Karen has extensive experience in training, coaching, and mentoring academic and professional staff. Her work supports key institutional processes such as student applications, selection, admissions, registration, examination results management, and graduation. She has also contributed to several strategic task teams chaired by the Registrar and senior executives.

Professional Service
She has served on numerous institutional committees, including Senate, the Academic Rules Committee, Student Support Forum, College Academic Affairs Board, Management Committee, School Board, Teaching and Learning Committee, Research Committee, and the Exclusion Appeals Committee. She is currently part of a team evaluating the institution’s ERP system.
