Anthony Kgohlwane Phaahlamohlaka is the Manager: Operations, Partnerships and Resources at the Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS), University of South Africa (UNISA). He brings over 15 years of experience in operations management, financial administration, and procurement within complex institutional and research environments.

In his current role, Anthony oversees operations across two ISHS campuses (Lenasia, Johannesburg and Parow, Cape Town), supporting a multidisciplinary team of senior academics, researchers, and administrative staff. His work focuses on strengthening financial governance, procurement efficiency, and operational systems, ensuring that largescale research projects are implemented effectively, within budget, and in compliance with institutional and funder requirements.

Anthony’s professional practice sits at the intersection of operations, finance, and community-engaged research, where he contributes to the design and implementation of projects with both academic and social impact. He has played a key role in managing large research budgets, improving operational processes, and enhancing institutional accountability.

He is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Accounting Sciences (Auditing) at UNISA. His research adopts a mixed-methods approach to examine the adoption, use, and failure of biodigesters in Johannesburg South, with a focus on sustainability, community engagement, and the practical challenges of renewable energy implementation in informal settlements.

Through both his professional and academic work, Anthony is committed to advancing evidence-based practice, sustainable development, and impactful research, particularly in areas that bridge institutional systems with community needs.
